Founded in 1975, the Center is a community-based non-profit agency working toward a society free of homophobia and gender oppression by advancing the respect, human rights and dignity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

The Center's core program areas are Social Justice, Social Service and Services that are Social.

Through Out for Justice, we advocate with elected officials and governing bodies to provide equal protections to LGBT people. We are a Hate Crimes Reporting Site. we provide competency training to law enforcement on a local and federal level, and we provide information and referral for legal and employment help. Through Project 180 we provide cultural competency training to schools and administrators; mental and medical health professionals, municipal bodies, non-profits, and corporations all with the goal of improving the conditions and experiences of LGBT people as students, consumers, employees and neighbors.

Through our area-wide programming we try to meet LGBT people of all ages, right where they are. Through METRO YOUTH OUTREACH, we provide daily outreach, counseling, case management, and programming for youth ages 5-24 and a 24-hour youth hotline 888-429-8761. Through our HEALTH and WEALTH programming we provide our adult community members with counseling, group support, health workshops and information, seminars on financial health, twice-weekly Senior drop-in, events and myriad group activities.

We are seeking candidates for the Executive Director position. In this role, you will serve as the senior executive of the Center, with fundraising and fiscal outreach and public relations, program development and management, organizational management responsibilities.

The successful candidate will possess these required competencies: The passion and demonstrated commitment to, and involvement in, the LGBT community; sensitive to the diversity of the LGBT community; visible passion for the work of The Center

Proven customer service skills; ability to understand and resolve customers' needs; anticipate customer needs and take action; continually seek to increase revenue and customer satisfaction.

Proven oral, written and listening communication skills; ability to convey information in a succinct and clear manner; capable of adapting message to audiences; comfortable with public relations, including media experience; highly effective public and media spokesperson with a particular talent in conveying a message around sometimes highly emotional and controversial issues

Proven problem-solving abilities; ability to thoroughly research, analyze and make meaningful recommendations; seek opportunities to enhance efficiencies within the organization; seek creative and innovative solutions, think "outside the box".

Proven ability to develop action plans; execute plans in agreed-upon

timeframes; makes decisions with costs in mind and manage assets appropriately; handle multiple priorities and projects effectively; is organized, manages vendor partners by setting clear expectations and holding them accountable.

Proven ability to enhance teamwork; ability to develop positive and constructive working relationships; is perceived as a "go to" individual by customers; ability to be open to others' new ideas and opinions; engages in appropriate and constructive dialog with subordinates, peers and senior management.; is flexible and has a “pitch-in" attitude; and possesses a collaborative spirit .

Proven leadership skills; possesses ability to develop and articulate a vision for the organization; coaches and develops staff;

The successful candidate will possess these required skills, experience, education and certifications:

A track record of successful leadership within a non-profit setting is required; experience with smallto medium-sized non-profits is preferred. Experience working with and motivating Board, staff and volunteers. Knowledge and facility in the role of employer; working awareness of the legal aspects of employee and volunteer management, e.g., hiring, performance management, benefits management, as well as the broad spectrum of workplace laws.

Experience managing facility and administrative spaces including maintenance and supplies; experience managing capital improvement projects. Proven fundraiser with ability to write and/or supervise the writing of (as well as administration of and reporting on) all grants; experience in direct fundraising (asking for money); experience with foundation, corporate, government, individual, and special events fundraising. Experience working with and nurturing a membership organization Understand and manage cash flow; experience in budget preparation and monitoring; solid understanding of financial statements, financial software and payroll; comfort level to do double duty as CFO.

Proven ability to create and sustain programming in areas of community service, advocacy, and education.

Education: BA/BS degree, MA/MS preferred.

Years of experience: 10-15 years of relevant work experience

Certifications: LISW preferred

Computer proficiency: proficient in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word]; accounting/bookkeeping software, basic web design, service hours tracking

software.
